The scylla is one of the most grotesque monstrosities to ever roam the seas—a colossal predator whose very existence embodies mindless hunger and unrelenting destruction. These massive creatures are born of dark, primordial magic, and can be found in the deepest, most inaccessible parts of the sea.
Form of a Nightmare#
A scylla’s body is an immense mass of writhing flesh, its form largely featureless except for the six massive canine heads that stretch out on long, serpentine necks. Their jaws are lined with three rows of serrated teeth, all pointing downward into a yawning, gaping throat that can swallow even the largest of creatures whole. Supporting this nightmarish creature are a dozen muscular tentacles, which propel scylla with surprising speed. These powerful limbs allow scylla to be adept hunters in any environment, whether lurking in the abyssal depths of the sea or surging onto rocky shorelines to snatch prey.

An Insatiable Hunger#
The most defining trait of the scylla is their endless hunger. Unlike other predators of the deep, which hunt for survival or territory, scylla knows no such reason or restraint. They’re driven by a primal, insatiable frenzy and a need to devour anything that moves. Scylla cannot be reasoned with, distracted, or sated—they exist only to consume. Anything within their reach, from small boats to great whales, is a potential meal. Though their form suggests intelligence— after all, each head appears to have a mind of its own— there is no true sentience in scylla. They “speak” only in a cacophonous chorus of mad barks, whines, and howls, a sound that has driven sailors mad with terror long before they ever saw their monstrous form rise from the depths.
Spawn of Corruption#
Scyllas originate from a place steeped in ancient, corrupt magic—Typhon, an island known for birthing countless hybrid abominations. Typhon is a place where the boundaries of nature and magic break down, and from its dark shores emerge monsters that should not exist. Legends claim that scylla were once beautiful nymphs, cursed and twisted by Typhon’s foul magic over centuries of imprisonment.
