Once born of divine song, the Mormos are the cursed reflections of the sirens, transformed by the corrupting power of Typhon, the Island of the Maw. When a siren lingers too long upon its blackened shores, her beauty rots away. Within weeks, she becomes a Mormo: a harpy-like predator driven by hunger and envy.
Luring Song#
A Mormo retains fragments of its former voice, capable of weaving melodies that stir both memory and despair. With these haunting songs, they lure travelers and sirens alike toward their doom.
Beauty Lost#
Mormos bear little resemblance to their ancestors. Their feathers are black and oily, their eyes glimmer with molten gold, and their faces retain just enough of their old beauty to be unnerving. Their claws are sharp enough to cut stone, and the air around them carries the faint scent of ash.
Driven by envy, the Mormos despise the untainted sirens who still possess beauty and freedom. Flocks of them scour the Forgotten Sea, seeking their kin to lure home and corrupt, ensuring no siren escapes Typhon’s curse.
Ancestors to Harpies#
The Mormos are the progenitors of the harpies, whose bloodline has thinned and decayed through the ages. When the first Mormos fled Typhon’s volcanic skies, their descendants lost both power and purpose, becoming the savage scavengers now known across the world.
