Chalcia#
Chalcia (NE Young Hyperion) stands above her siblings not in size, but in presence. She is composed and effortlessly commanding.
She is Sydon’s favorite, and she knows it. He has given her everything, and she has never been challenged. Because of this, she finds the world dull and its struggles unimportant.
She once kept many mortal lovers, chosen for their beauty and devotion. She spent her time among them, favoring some, watching them closely, and growing attached in a to some.
Lutheria decided her daughter needed a lesson in ownership. To break her attachment, she forced Chalcia to slaughter her chosen lovers, a dozen of them, then prepare and consume them while she watched. Lutheria told her nothing is truly yours unless you are willing to destroy it. Chalcia did not protest. She learned.
She is the most capable leader among the siblings, but also the least tested. She believes authority is natural, not earned.
Chalcia becomes a Hyperion during chapter 10.
Roleplaying Chalcia#
Commanding. She speaks with authority, expecting obedience without question.
Condescending. Belittles others’ words as inferior or naïve.
Hergeron#
Hergeron (LE Young Hyperion) is lean and pale, his skin bearing a faint azure hue. His dark blue robes shift constantly, with patterns like waves moving across them without repetition. He carries a black iron rod shaped like a sounding staff.
He loathes Goloron. Once, Goloron promised him a union worthy of his station, presenting him with mermaid princesses from the Sunken Kingdom of New Aegea. Hergeron traveled the Cerulean Gulf with them, taking them as lovers, losing himself in their touch, and believing himself chosen above all others.
Goloron let the illusion hold. When he revealed the truth, there were no princesses, only dolphins, mere animals. Goloron ensured the revelation was not private. The humiliation was absolute, and it has never left Hergeron.
Now, Hergeron avoids closeness and despises vulnerability, seeing both as weaknesses to be exploited. He no longer seeks connection or recognition, only control.
Roleplaying Hergeron#
Guarded. He is cold and reserved, masking all emotion.
Corrects. Points out flaws to undermine confidence.
Hergeron as a Potential Ally#
During the Apokalypsis, Hergeron can be turned into an ally. The heroes may convince him that Lutheria intends to sacrifice him to power the Apokalypsis Stone with a successful DC 15 Charisma (Persuasion) check. Alternatively, a successful DC 20 Charisma (Persuasion) check convinces him that the heroes are destined to defeat his mother, and that siding with them is the wiser course.
If persuaded, Hergeron teleports to the Apokalypsis Stone and awaits the heroes, joining them in battle against Lutheria.
Goloron#
Goloron (CE Young Hyperion) is gaunt and hollow-eyed, his limbs too long, his movements slightly out of sync with his surroundings. His skin is translucent, and it appears as if something beneath it shifts independently. He wears loose, stained garments and carries a twisted staff of bone.
He is Lutheria’s favorite, not because he is strong, but because he is interesting.
Goloron speaks to things that are not present. Or perhaps they are. He answers questions no one has asked, laughs at moments that have not yet occurred, and repeats phrases spoken days earlier by people who are no longer alive.
He delights in reshaping his siblings. Not physically, but psychologically. He learns what they want, then gives it to them in the worst possible way. Goloron does not hate his siblings. He improves them through suffering.
Goloron becomes a Hyperion during chapter 10.
Roleplaying Goloron#
Invisible Audience. He seems to speak to others that aren’t present.
- Laughs. Breaks tension with inappropriate amusement.
Talieus#
Talieus (NE Young Hyperion) is a towering figure with handsome features. He often proclaims triumph before the first blow in battle is struck. He cannot conceive of defeat, and dismisses any setback as temporary, doubling down with louder boasts and more reckless assaults.
He is Sydon’s favored son, but has been twisted by his mother, Lutheria. In secret, she takes him as both son and consort, feeding his need for admiration while hiding from him the children born of their union. Talieus knows they exist, but has never seen them. He tells himself they are unworthy of him, yet he has begun to wonder why she keeps them away. He does not ask.
Talieus does not reveal his union with his mother to Sydon, not out of disloyalty, but out of fear. He believes his father would not see it as seduction or manipulation, but as weakness. Sydon would strip him of favor, cast him down, or worse, treat him as something lesser, something unworthy of being called his son.
He worships strength but cannot recognize it in others. He measures worth in spectacle, not outcome. This makes him a terrible leader. He surrounds himself with those who flatter him and ignores those with real skill or insight.
Roleplaying Talieus#
Boastful. He boasts about his accomplishments and denigrates the accomplishments of others.
Gloating Early. Quick to gloat, he often celebrates victory too soon, undermining his own success.
Yala#
Yala (CN Young Hyperion) is massive and heavily built, her body crisscrossed with scars shaped like lightning strikes. Some are old and faded. Others are fresh, still faintly glowing. She wields a greataxe of blackened metal that showers sparks with every movement.
She defines herself through destruction. To Yala, existence is proven through resistance. If something cannot be broken, it is not real.
Goloron once told her that true strength lay hidden beneath the skin, that the gods themselves were hollow, filled with divine fire. He said she had never truly tested herself. She believed him.
What followed left her carved open. She searched for that hidden power and found only blood and bone. She concluded this meant she had not gone far enough. She continued until her father found her, standing and working through her own entrails, still searching.
She is the simplest of the siblings, and in many ways, the most honest.
Yala becomes a Hyperion during chapter 10.
Roleplaying Yala#
Direct. She speaks simply and acts without hesitation.
Destructive. Strikes objects just to see what breaks.
Yala as a Potential Ally#
During the Apokalypsis, Yala might be turned into an ally by the heroes. Refer to Hergeron for how this may be done.
