When mortals first came to Grimnir, they divided in spirit as much as in place. Some staked claims on riverbanks and fertile valleys, raising farms and towns. These were the first Baendur, those that became farmers and builders.

The Baendur kingdoms are scattered, but numerous. They are less a single people than a people who share common ideals. No high king unites them, for each Baendur lord believes in their own independence. Migration and intermarriage are rare; a village may trade brides or sons with its closest neighbors, but beyond that, realms remain isolated. The result is a patchwork of customs and people, stitched together only loosely by blood.

Internal wars are not uncommon, particularly in the western regions.

Oakdon#

Located in the far west on the northern most of the islands that makes up the Western Shores region.

The Eastern Stretch#

Here, volcanic plains give way to sparse forests and modest farmland. The Baendur kingdoms are fewer and poorer, less unified than their western counterparts.

The Borderlands#

The borderlands in the north are home to varying biomes and peoples. Vast evergreen forests support sufficient game to feed several Baendur kingdoms.

The King of Stone#

The northeastern Baendur kingdom is centered on Rockpike Fortress, an ancient stronghold carved from mountain stone. The king of Rockpike is Cenric Edgare, whose family is rumored to descend from the Witchking himself.

An oath is not merely a vow; it is the steel that binds a raider's honor to his actions. Break it, and you're no more than driftwood in the tides of disgrace. - Hrolf, Varang Raider
