The Serpent Sea#

This massive, looping river separates the inner continent from the High North and the Fanged Sands. Fed by the waterfalls of Turnfjall, the river behaves erratically, sometimes reversing its flow or stalling entirely.

Turnfjall#

Turnfjall rises at the heart of Grimnir, a mountain range visible from nearly every corner of the world. Its sheer cliffs and dangerous forests have deterred most explorers. Only the western slope offers passage upward, through the Inner Lands. Three known clans have perished attempting to settle deeper into the mountain.

The Fanged Sands#

To the far south lies a volatile strip of volcanic terrain. The ground here is coated in black lava rock that stretches for miles, sloping gradually northward into more habitable terrain near the Serpent Sea.

The High North#

The High North encompasses the entire northern landmass of Grimnir. Along the frigid coasts, dozens of whaling villages cling to the ice-choked shorelines. Inland, the few scattered settlements survive by hunting mammoths and woolly rhinoceros.

The Western Shores#

In the far west there are two larger islands and numerous smaller ones. These lands contain at least two dozen kingdoms and smaller dominions. Most Baendur ports are on the western coasts, as far away from raiders as possible. Rivers likewise are blocked with chains and gated bridges to discourage inland excursions. Fertile and well-defended, these lands remain under Baendur control due to their fortified kingdoms.

All gather within the hall, pressed closely against the roaring hearth. For outside something monstrous hunts. I have sent forth our call for aid; may a great warrior answer and rid us of this evil. —Anton Flame-born
